FAQs

How do I know what ring size I am?
I recommend that you buy a UK ring sizer or pop in to a local jeweller to get an accurate finger size before buying. I use the UK ring size system F - Z+2 (I usually offer a range of sizes in my Ready to Wear collection and some can be resized). If you receive your ring and the size isn’t right, I can offer an exchange or refund, or in some cases a resize.

How can I see your pieces in real life?
If you would like to view my pieces or discuss a bespoke face to face, you can come and visit me at my workshop, accessible by bus or by car, near Lewes, East Sussex. I also do markets and fairs - which I will post about on my Instagram. As of January 2025, a selection of silver pieces will be available to try and buy at Brighton Boutique, Betty and the Brands.
-
Can I wear my piece everyday?
In most instances your piece can be worn everyday. Most of the stones I use are durable, particularly sapphires and diamonds. Tourmalines can be a little less so and more care must be taken, but otherwise they can worn everyday. I take care to ensure that all heavily textured rings are comfortable with no rough edges.
-
Can Ready to Wear rings be resized and is there an additional charge?
If a ready to wear ring is resizable, it will be included in the listing information. For gold pieces, as listed If you require a resize of a ring, this is offered for free when downsizing the ring and going 1 size up. Please note that if you require a resize outside of this range, there will be an additional charge of £60 to cover for metal and labour costs.
Please note that some rings are unable to be resized up due to the intricate texture and design of the ring. Please contact hello@rachelstrange.com with any enquiries.

How do I care for my piece?
I recommend that when jewellery is not worn, it is stored in separate bags as to not cause scratching with other pieces. Silver jewellery will naturally tarnish over time but can be cleaned with a soft cloth that will be included with your order. Certain stones are more durable than others but care must always be taken to avoid bangs and scratches. Avoid wearing your pieces during heavy exercise, in the swimming pool or the sea so that they can maintain their shine & finish. Do not expose them to creams or strong perfumes. Please contact me with any questions you have about your piece.

Do you offer a bespoke service and can I use my own metal and stones from old jewellery?
Yes, I offer a bespoke service! I love hearing about your ideas and turning your vision in to reality! Please see my Bespoke page for more information about how this process works.
If you have old jewellery that you would like to use please email me with a picture. In most cases, I can reuse your metal and where possible, use stones of the original setting allows for easy & smooth removal without causing damage. I tend not to work with softer stones like emeralds and old rubies, because they can break easily during the extraction process.
-

Where do you source your gemstones?
All gemstones are sourced from UK based wholesalers who cut and process gems in controlled and ethical environments, meaning equipment and environment law is the norm. More and more I am starting to use recycled stones, which have been carefully extracted from vintage or nearly new pieces and sold via a certfied seller of recycled gems. I will only ever use stones that are 100% genuine and of a high quality. If you would like to request a Certification for your stone, please let me know during the consultation process and this can be arranged for an additional fee.
-
